Dear NCSY Southern TJJ Lion Pride,
Greetings from the Golan!!!
Today, Monday, was an intense but rewarding day!
We kicked Monday off with an intense Army Experince! An IDF Captain and Major took time to run us through our own basic training. We learned everything from falling into formation to the proper way to carry a stretcher. We also got to hear first hand accounts of Israeli heroism from our IDF drill sergeants. The biggest takeaway was definetly the way we learned how to work as a team and support one another in our missions.
Our army experience continued as we had the chance to meet several active duty soldiers and deliver them food packages! They were so touched and thankful of our kind act that the unit plans to hang the picture we took on the army base!!
This afternoon found us headed to an amazing Chocolate factory! We got to observe how the chocolate is made and sample many different types of candy! We even got to make our own chocolate bars! We capped off our day with a visit to Oz 77 where we learned about the crucial role of tanks in the Yom Kippur war.
We can’t wait to explore Acco tomorrow!
Best,
Rabbi Chaim
