Dear NCSY TJJ Bus 2 Parents,
We have had a spectacular last few days in the South of the country. Just before the Free Weekend we enjoyed some of the most famous and beautiful hikes at Masada, Ein Gedi and a visit to the beach at the Dead Sea. To see all of the various terrains in Israel has been remarkable to the teens and a wonderful experience.
After the weekend we began our descent and our stay down south in the dessert. We learned about the resilience of the Jewish people in the State of Israel and the reality near the Gaza border on our visit to the city of Sderot. We continued to see the ingenuity and agricultural developments near the Sinai border and the importance of the Negev region. One of the best ways to understand its impotance is to study about David Ben Gurion in his house in Sde Boker in the Negev. Ben Gurion felt very strongly for the Negev and helped pioneer the efforts in inhabiting it.
On our way to Eilat we stopped by the Yotvata ice cream shop to cool off! While in Eilat so far we have enjoyed the beach, water sports and an amazing boat ride along the water. We of course have enjoyed the shopping as well.
Tomorrow, we have a sunrise hike in the mountains of Eilat and we make our way back to Jerusalem.
All the best
