Dear Parents,
This past Shabbat was a great mix of different buses. Bus 1,2, and 3 spent an inspiring Shabbat together at the Jerusalem Gate Hotel. We really enjoyed having the opportunity to hang out with teens from other buses. Friday Night, we went to the Kotel to pray with the NCSY group. It was a unique experience, with a lot of singing and dancing. After, we ate dinner at a nearby Yeshiva. On Saturday, we had a late wake up – that was a treat! Shabbat culminated with a group experience – all 3 buses in 1 room, listening to our peers share thoughts about the trip, and words of inspiration from Rabbi Glenn Black. It was a swift transition that evening to Tisha Bav. We discussed mourning and loss, and pondered the strength to rebuild. On Sunday morning, we wrote our own dirges using a formula similar to the ones found in the Kinnot. heard from Arnold Roth, and toured Yad Vashem – a pretty heavy day, and very appropriate for the themes of Tisha Bav. We broke our fast with a gourmet dinner at a restaurant located in Gush Etzion – what a treat! There was a mix of other buses from the US and Canada there, and we hung out for a few hours enjoying the good food and company.
