The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
Day 11 Shabbat in Nofei Gonen, Day 12 Arbel and Tziporri

Dear Parents

Shabbat was positive, reflective, and fun! The goal of our Shabbat programming this week was to really take the time to connect with our TJJ family. We were honoured to have a TJJ participant share their thoughts with the group at our Shabbat meals.

Friday night, we prayed as a group outside. The weather was perfect and we sang and danced on the grass. On Shabbat day, we enjoyed lengthy resting time and had the opportunity to engage in dialogue with a local kibbutz inhabitant.

Saturday night we had an epic bus wide game of capture the flag and then a late night pizza dinner! We went straight to bed after,  because early this morning we departed the beautiful Nofei Gonen and traveled to Mt. Arbel in the lower Galilee. The view was breathtaking! The hike was unique, we descended with the aid of metal handles embedded along the path. At the end, we were surprised to meet a herd of goats!

We travelled to Tziporri and walked on ancient Roman streets from the excavations. Incredible mosaics and pictures adorned the structures. Tziporri is where the chief compiler of the Mishnah, Rabbi Yehuda Hanasi, was founded, and it was powerful to be able to walk the same streets that he walked. Right now we are on the bus on the way to kibbutz Ein Tzurim for lodging. Another bus (3) will be staying there as well. Tonight is laundry night, and we are all looking forward to that!

Best,

Yoni
