Dear Parents,
Today we visited the De Karina chocolate factory and got to participate in a chocolatier training course! We learned about the history of the chocolate trade and watched how to actually form and construct truffles. We even got to taste our creations after! They had a great chocolate bar there with all sorts of elaborate chocolate drinks – so overall, a sweet and delicious experience in the morning!
This afternoon, we toured Pekiin and visited the cave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. Bar Yochai was a Sage from Talmudic times who was forced into hiding by the Romans. Legend has it that he and his son sheltered in a cave in Pekiin, and a carob tree grew nearby and a stream of water ,also nearby, provided sustenance. It was pretty cool to see the carob tree and hear the stream gushing nearby. And of course, we got to go into the cave as well! After our lunch, we returned back to the hotel for some swimming and to get ready for Shabbat.
