This day began much like many others on this two week journey. Waking up and coming downstairs to breakfast lead into a fascinating talk in our morning tefillah groups. Each advisor took on an important as well as interesting Jewish topic. These topics ranged from the meaning behind the morning blessings, to the highlighted importance of implementing Jewish values into each of our lives.
Our first stop during this fun-filled day began at Balboa Park. We were given four-wheel bikes that held 2 to 4 people. We were equipped with a road map and were sent on our way to explore the beautiful and majestic park. From racing our friends up and down the street, to gracefully strolling the courtyards and pathways, a great time was had by all. We were given lots of opportunities to explore the surroundings, and landmarks of the site. Our bike ride ended in tired faces and good spirits.
Our second stop of today was the famed San Diego Zoo. Here, we roamed around the park, seeing and learning about many different species of both animals and plants. From polar bears to hippos, we got to see up close how these different animals look and interact with one another. The zoo provided us with yet another chance to bond with our close friends as our west coast experience is coming to a close.
The third stop of the day was at the Westfield mall, where we were able to explore everything the mall had to offer. We visited many shops such as American eagle, journeys, banana republic, etc. But, what made the mall so enjoyable was the fact that it was an outdoor shopping centre and we got to spend time with our friends in the beautiful San Diego weather. Our experience today at the mall was a positive one and was very enjoyable due to the fact that we got to spend time with our friends and got to explore the many shops of San Diego.
This great day concluded with a stimulating question and answer period, discussing the current state of the Jewish homeland. This program was both informational and intriguing as we learned about the important topics and issues with our modern society. Thus, as we write this journal deep into the night we can now only look back on the memories we created during this wonderful trip and this fantastic day that included bike riding, animal watching and shopping along with authentic Jewish experiences.
You stay classy San Diego
