Shalom, my name is Zach Silver. I’m from Edmonton, AB and the past few days in the old city have been monumental and informative. We have been to the western wall (Kotel). There were so many People there from all sects of Judaism. People in black hats, in shorts, in suits, in sandals. It was beautiful, everyone was here for the same reason. Myself, as well as many other people started to cry. It was truly emotional. After that we toured around historical sites. We went into an unbelievable tunnel with water up to my knees. It was discovered by a British dude named Warren. The entrance was in the city of David. We looked at ruins. We went into tunnels below the Muslim quarter it was right up against the Kotel and people were still praying there it was inspiring. We learned about the destruction of the second temple and how important it was to the Jewish people. We also learned how the wall was built, using oxen as well as levers. We went to a museum and found out about life before the destruction of the temple and the roles of everyone. It was so interesting and I cannot wait for the rest of the trip.
