Shabbat on TJJ was an amazing experience! After a long day of hiking, we enjoyed a delicious dinner complete with singing and prayers, and learned about the meaning of this holy day.
We got the chance to sleep in on Saturday morning, which was definitely a plus. Since there are so many individuals on the trip, each with different amounts of religious experience, we started off the day with a discussion about the meaning and value of prayer. I found it really interesting to hear so many different opinions! After some fun games and activities, we had a relaxing period in which we could enjoy time with our friends. Sunset came around quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to celebrate the end of Shabbat. Dancing, singing and some gorgeous mandolin music, courtesy of Shuki, got our heart rates up and the laughter flowing!
Having never celebrated Shabbat before, I was really surprised by how much fun it was! We got the chance to rest and reflect, but also to enjoy and celebrate the life G-d has given us. I can’t wait for next week.
