Day 3: Splashing and Ice Cream

We began our day with an interesting discussion about Jewish prayer and how to develop hakarot hatov (appreciation and gratitude). The very first prayer of the day teaches us how to live our life, to always be conscious of what we have and to be thankful. To be truly thankful we must first recognize what we are being thankful for.
After that it was time to load up the buses and head towards Salt Water River where we spent the morning tubing down the river. As it was already baking hot by the time we got down to the water, everyone was more than happy to jump in a tube and start splashing their advisors. It was very relaxing and nice, except for the rapids which may have given me an eternally bruised derriere. As we got to our stop for lunch, there was a whole problem with a runaway tube and shoe, which were both rescued (thankfully).
Once we all dried off and had lunch, we went back onto the buses and went to Cold Stone Creamery. It was the ice cream headquarters of the world and probably everybody’s new favourite place to be. They taught us how to make our own ice cream with their ice cream machine that’s worth approximately 16 thousand dollars. After much discussion, we all agreed to purchase an ice cream machine rather than to go to university. Our new vocation came with a really exciting initiation, bringing us to the forefront of technological innovation and creativity! We became taste testers for some of the newest and best flavors ever! Pickle relish, BBQ and pizza flavored ice cream were just some of the treats you can look forward to seeing in the future!
After the free and unlimited ice cream, we reloaded ourselves onto the buses and drove off to see a baseball game between Phoenix and Pittsburgh. The game was generally exciting, but on the downtime, we ran around the park making fun of the Americans and acting like tourists. It was so much fun asking where Phoenix is and how far is the Whitehouse! The winning ball also landed in our section but it got lost in all the chaos and in the end nobody found the ball.
After the game, everyone was excited to get back to the hotel, shower and fall asleep. It was a great end to a great day and tomorrow we’re off to LA! Stay tuned for more updates.
Goodnight and goodbye! Daniele Tsivian and Emma Siegel
