Day 23! By Akiva Meyerowitz and Yaakov Benyair

So, this morning we had an early wake up. Unfortunately we had to wake up at 6:45 which was extremely hard. Although we had to wake up so early, it wasn’t bad because we learned how Israel became a state. Not only did it become a state, it became a Jewish state. It was very interesting learning how Israel became a state during a war, and that nobody would side with them. Classic Jews, we always get our way. After that we had a short bus ride to Rabin Square. Just next to Rabin Square was the place where the Prime Minister Yitzchack Rabin was shot and killed just after his famous speech. After that, we had a quick lunch break filled with great food!. Shortly after we all boarded the bus and drove to Old Jaffa Market where we bargained a lot and ate a lot. After a 45 minute drive we finally arrived to the cave where Rabbi Akiva and a few other rabbis where hiding for their lives. We crawled through tiny little holes just so we can experience what they had to go through. It was an eye opening experience, seeing how they had to live in fear. After that experience we drove back to the hotel and had a delicious dinner. Shortly after dinner we had free time and some people went to the mall in the lower level of the hotel. Right now we are listening to a rabbi speak about how great it is to be Jewish. And that’s the day.
