Today we went on the Jilabun Stream hike. The scenery was beautiful and amazing to see, but not going to lie I definitely slipped way too many times. Afterwards we went to the Syrian border on Mt. Bental. While there, we learned about some of the events during the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War. Looking into Syria knowing what has been happening there for the past couple of years was a crazy feeling. Then we went to the De Karina Chocolate Factory where we were able to make our own chocolate and buy products if we wanted. During the chocolate making workshop they became kinda mad at us because we were squeezing the hot chocolate syrups straight into our mouths. Still, it was definitely worth it. The last thing we did before we left for the hostel was go to Tel Saki where we saw the Syrian border and learned the story and struggle of the 28 soldiers who were trapped in a bunker for 30 hours praying that the Syrian forces wouldn’t find them during the Yom Kippur War. Thanks to our tour guides we were able to get a greater understanding about what exactly the fight in Syria is about and why there are so many different factions involved in the conflict. Lastly, we finished up with a Chabura session on the way we think we know information. Whether it be from knowledge, belief, society, or faith and why we think this. Today was amazing and tons of fun due to the diversity of the activities we did.
