DAY 5- July 9, 2012

ELLO!

After a long, meaningful fast yesterday, we decided that today should be totally fun filled, which it was! We started the morning with the 2nd part of our prayer sessions that we started yesterday. Then we loaded the bus and headed to the Sea of Galilee where we were divided into four groups. Each group was challenged to build a raft from 8 rods of bamboo, 4 planks of wood, 8 paddles and 6 metal barrels. Once each raft was completed, the entire group (approx 12-15 people) had to fit onto the raft and use the paddles to get to the bouy without the raft falling apart. 2/ 4 groups made it successfully, but were attacked by the other two groups and ended up in the water anyway. We dried off and changed into dry clothing, then we returned to the bus. For lunch, we enjoyed deli sandwiches (chumus sandwiches for those vegetarians) at an overlook called Mount Arbel/ Har Arbel. Once we said the Bircat, we made our way up the mountain, which many misinterpretted as a hike, and reviewed the land of Israel’s history. We started the timeline all the way back to the time of Abraham, making our way through time to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. Continuing on our way, we stopped in the Talmudic town of Tziporri and looked at the ruins, appreciating the incredible acts of heroism and the scholarly works that were produced from this ancient town. We reloaded the bus and made our way back to Teveria. We enjoyed a little bit of free time before our bongo/ dance cruise on the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves as we danced on to sunset. Once we got off the boat, we made our way to “Cherry”, a dairy restaurant where we feasted on delicious salads, pasta, and pizza. Exhausted after a long day, we headed back to Tzfat for curfew and finally bedtime. Tomorrow we are boarding the bus around 6 am, so the early bedtime is helpful!
