Hiking in the Galil by Esther Vininsky-Oakes

Hi there! This is Esther Vininsky-Oakes from Ottawa. Today was a pretty amazing day! We started out early with breakfast at the kibbutz in Afik for the last time, and journeyed to Galil to go on a two and half hour hike through the beautiful untouched forests of the region. We hiked downhill, uphill, over rocks and across creeks all with views of the mountain tops and rows of colorful flowers and greenery. In the last stretch of the hike we walked straight up a huge hill, which was extremely exhausting, but no one gave up and we all made it to the top. Afterwards we had a well deserved lunch of pizza in the area. I didn’t know Israelis ate tuna and corn on pizza and I was skeptical, but it was all great. Now we are on our way to Jerusalem to stay in a new hotel in the city and should arrive there soon. Everyone is having a great time, albeit tired, but really enjoying exploring the country. Shalom!
